FAQ

Do I need to do anything special for wire wrapped items?

Try not to get lotion, makeup, perfume, hairspray or other chemicals on a fine wire wrapped piece.  Use a polishing cloth to wipe the metal/stones as needed.

Store in a safe place to avoid scratches.  Do not swim, sleep or shower wearing copper jewelry.  No ultrasonic cleansers should be used on wire wrapped jewelry.  Use a good hand soap to clean and dry with paper towels.

For patinaed pieces do not rub the darkened areas too much as it will lighten them; unless that is your desired effect.  Over time if a patina appears buff with a silver polish cloth until the desired shine is produced.

Is my gemstone easy to scratch?

Most diamonds, cubic zirconia, amethyst, topaz, peridot, citrine, aquamarine, etc. have a hardness rating that allows them to be worn continuously and cleaned with ultrasonic or polishing compounds.

Opals and Pearls are lower on the Mohs hardness scale and may be susceptible to scratches, chips or breakage.  They can generally be worn every day but should be removed when coming in contact with chemicals such as bleach or when activities may present chance for damage.

What is the difference between Sterling Silver and Argentium Silver?

Sterling Silver is often labeled as .925 because it is 92.5% Silver and 7.5% Copper, for strength.

Argentium Silver is 94% Silver and a 6% mix of Germanium and Copper for strength. Argentium Silver is identified as Sterling however it is more hypo-allergenic and will not tarnish due to the higher Silver content.
