Care Instructions
Sterling Silver:
It is better to wash your silver by hand in hot, sudsy water as needed. Rinse well in clear hot water and hand dry thoroughly. For silver that is tarnished, clean with a good quality silver polish and avoid 'dip' polishes.
For Sterling Silver which has become tarnished you can use a silver polish cloth, a baking soda & water paste, or warm water and mild soap, followed by buffing with a soft cloth.
With proper care, Sterling Silver will last decades or a lifetime and maintain a sparkling shine. .925 Sterling is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper for adding strength and durability.
Copper:
Because wire wrapped jewelry is handmade, it should be the last thing to put on and the first to take off daily. Try not to get lotion, makeup, perfume, hairspray or other chemicals on a fine wire wrapped piece. Use a polishing cloth to wipe the metal/stones as needed.
Store in a safe place to avoid scratches. Do not swim, sleep or shower wearing copper jewelry. No ultrasonic cleansers should be used on wire wrapped jewelry. Use a good hand soap to clean and dry with paper towels. For patinaed pieces do not rub the darkened areas too much as it will lighten them; unless that is your desired effect. Over time a patina will appear and regular quick polishing should be expected.
Gemstones:
Most diamonds, cubic zirconia, amethyst, topaz, peridot, citrine, aquamarine, etc. have a hardness rating that allows them to be worn continuously and cleaned with ultrasonic or polishing compounds.
Opals and Pearls are lower on the Mohs hardness scale and may be susceptible to scratches, chips or breakage. They can generally be worn every day but should be removed when coming in contact with chemicals such as bleach or when activities may present chance for damage.
Designer Enhanced Gemstones should be treated the same as Opals and Pearls. They are generally much harder and will withstand daily wear but avoid harsh chemicals or sports activities while wearing.
